In steps 17 and 18 your finished block should be 20 1/2” x 20 1/2“ NOT 18 1/2” x 18 1/2“.  This does NOT effect any cutting.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

17.  Sew one 2 ½” x 2 ½” black print square to each side of an 16 ½” x 2 ½” strip to make a 20 ½” x 2 ½” unit. Repeat to remaining thirty-two 16 ½” x 2 ½” light and dark print strips.

18.  Arrange one 20 ½” x 2 ½” light strip black square unit, one 20 ½” x 2 ½” dark strip black square unit and one star block as shown, sew together.  Square up to 20 ½”x 20 ½”. Repeat to all sixteen star blocks.
